Our story started in 1998. While ensconced in the remoteness of the Highlands and working at The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle as Director of Golf, I began to understand the attraction of Scotland and its appeal to the visitor who desired to be immersed in its wonderful treasures - outstanding beauty, ancient history, hospitable culture, stunning architecture and of course the finest Links Courses in the world.
From this experience in the Scottish Highlands my attention moved from being a PGA Golf Professional to a Golf Vacation Specialist. With internet skills and the assistance of my wife Geraldine we moved south to the charming unspoilt seaside village of Elie in Fife where we founded Scotland for Golf. The business has grown substantially and is now located in the most famous golfing town in the world, St Andrews.
Scotland for Golf is at the forefront of the golf travel business, understanding the shift in demands from potential new clients to returning ones. "A desire to have things done faster but still be compliant is mandatory for sales", commented Scott Finlayson, who now is at the helm. With my team of Golf Professionals, IT specialists and travel experts, "We strive to deliver the best golf vacation you will ever have". I am delighted with the confidence shown in the company as most of our business is by referral and clients returning regularly. Some are into double figures on trips to the UK, Ireland and Europe.
One of the biggest shifts in the golf travel market has come from the "Home of Golf". St Andrews Links Trust who are responsible for the distribution of Old Course tee-times have appointed leading travel companies with "Authorised Provider" Status.
