Swinley Forest Golf Club is a very welcoming and lovely golf course situated in the well-known Surrey/Berkshire sand belt. Its distinctiveness lies in the fact that it can hardly be labeled as a conventional golf course despite it has been open for over one hundred years.
History:
Its history is not as extended as other golf courses in England; however its history maybe well preserved in the players’ memories. The course opened officially in 1909 as a result of Harry Colt’s delicate design. The course is generally considered to have its natural beauty and unique style, with nothing to remember its neighbors’ glamorous style. The position and architect of the green parts and sets of the course definitely make it unique; not to mention the short and one shot holes which give dynamics for the play. Swinley is a gorgeous course especially in spring when the fairways are in full blossom and leading to the mature pines.
Quotes:
Henry Cotton has excellently sum up the essence of Swinley Forest : “If Augusta National is the cathedral in the pines, Swinley is the holy grail.”
