The St Andrews Classic

The St Andrews Classic is now in its 3rd year. Over the past two events we have had the privilege of hosting golfers from the following countries: England, Ireland, Spain, Canada, USA, Italy, France, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Singapore and China. We hope the third year will reflect in many nationalities and colourful characters attending!

What's included:

  • Championship Golf:
    • 18 Holes - Carnoustie Championship
    • 18 Holes - Old Course, St Andrews
    • 18 Holes - Castle Course, St Andrews
  • Non-Golfer Sightseeing Programme:
    • Glamis Castle & RRS Discovery
    • St Andrews Walking Tour including Castle & Cathedral
    • Local Fishing Village Tour including Crail Pottery & Falkland Palace
  • Chauffeur Driven Golf/Sightseeing Transfers
  • Orientation Meeting on Arrival
  • Welcome Reception & Buffet for Golfers & Non-Golfers
  • Private Scottish Dinner for Golfers & Non-Golfers

Concerns:

From the moment you arrive in Scotland we will take care of you! You do not have to concern yourself with language or transportation. You will have a SFG Representative by your side for a worry free trip.

Golfers:

The Golf Classic is available to all amateur golfers both ladies and gentlemen with a handicap of 24 for the men and 36 for the ladies. * If your handicap is over this limit you can still come. St Andrews has 7 courses suitable for the complete beginner through to the advanced player. If you are accompanying an established player and do not play yourself then you can join one of our Golf Schools that run weekly. (ask for information)

The Competion:

The event runs over the 3 days and wil be a handicap Stableford Event. Pairings for the golf will reflect who is really competitive and who is a more of a social player. There will three main prizes daily however there will be many spot prizes to be won!  

Instruction Daily:

Our PGA Professionals will be on hand prior to play each day to assist with your game during the warm up sessions.

I don't play golf:

Scotland is a land full of history and culture. If you are accompaning a golfing partner you will have a much fun as him or her! We guarantee it! (ask for more information)., There is also the opprtunity to learn to play with our P.G.A. Professionals. The facilities to learn include outdoor and indoor venues.

How much does it cost?

Accommodation for the event is in the 5* Old Course Hotel. You can chose a standard room or an Old course view room for your stay. Prices are a based on two golfers sharing a twin room. There is a single person room supplement.

Extras:

Caddies can be requested and payment is your reponsibility directly to the caddy. Buggies are only available to those with medical certificate. Dining outwith the programme is at your own expense. St Andrews has a great choice of places to dine. We will make recommendations and reservations for you.

Extend your stay in Scotland:

If you are travelling a long distance then we would suggest taking more time to explore Scotland. It is a country steeped in history. Areas to explore would include:

Edinburgh: One of Europe's most beautiful cities. Edinburgh Castle stands proudly above the city. Walk from the Castle down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace the residence for the Queen when she visits Scotland.

The Highlands: Very romantic and full of history as depicted in the Outlander Series. Follow the Whisky Trail or visit Culloden Moor the last stand in the Jacobite Rebellion.

West Coast: Take a drive along possibly the mosdt scenic views in Scotland or venture across to Skye or Islay to sample our Scotland's famous malt whiskies.

Heading South: Visit Gretna Green on the border of Scotland and England famous for runnaway marraiges. You can visit the World of Beatrix Potter in Windamere before arriving at more famous Open Championship Golf Courses. Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham or Royal Liverpool.

London: The City of London may also be an option if you have not visited the capital city of the UK.
