St Andrews Golf Academy - Golf Courses
There are seven golf courses within the town boundary of St Andrews.
Old Course, St Andrews - 6721 yds - Par 72 - £160.00 pp
The Home of Golf, where the game began 600 years ago. The infamous Old Course will again host the Open Championship in 2015. It is memorable for its famous features; The 17th Road Hole, Hell Bunker on the 14th and the Swilken Bridge on the 18th fairway.
New Course, St Andrews - 6625 yds - Par 71 - £75.00 pp
Over 100 years old it opened in April 1895. The New Course was designed by Tom Morris and sits alongside the Old Course. The course features a classic links layout with natural gorse, thick rough and undulating greens. Regarded by many as a tougher test than the Old Course and the local's favourite.
Jubilee Course, St Andrews - 6742 yds - Par 72 - £75.00 pp
The third course to be built in the town of St Andrews it was opened for play in 1897. It began as a 12 hole course before being extended to 18 holes in 1905. It is the work of Donald Steel that gives the Jubilee the quality it represents today. A testing layout where accuracy from the tee is desired. Regarded by many as the toughest challenge at St Andrews.
Eden Course, St Andrews - 6250 yds - Par 70 - £45.00 pp
Opened in 1914, designed by Harry S. Colt. Parts of course have been lately modified by the work of Donald Steel. The course features a quirky layout where much of success is won from a good tee shot. Probably the most pretty course at St Andrews with the yellow gorse present on nearly every hole in Spring.
Strathtyrum, St Andrews - 5620 yds - Par 69 - £30.00 pp
Shorter and less testing, the Strathtyrum is an ideal course for higher handicapper or novice. A simple layout, challenging in parts, good bunker positioning and undulating greens. Having conquered the Strathtyrum you are ready for the Eden.
The Balgove, St Andrews - 1520 yrds - Par 30 - £15.00 pp
Ideal for families and beginners, this nine hole golf course has a simple layout and features a traditional St Andrews Double Green.The greens are always in excellent condition and is playable from the turf all year round.
Castle Course, St Andrews - 7188 yrds - Par 71 - £120.00 pp
The seventh course at St Andrews, opened in June 2008 and is the work of David Mclay Kidd (architect of Bandon Dunes in Oregon). This course features stunning views from a cliff top site, elevated and undulating greens and fairways lined with thick rough. It is a tough walk but worth it for the scenery on a sunny summer's evening.
