St Andrews Golf Academy - The Facilities
St Andrews Links has 7 public courses, 2 modern clubhouses and a golf practice centre. All the courses and facilities are managed and maintained by the St Andrews Links Trust. Scotland for Golf is the largest Authorized Independent user of the facilities at St Andrews Links: 22 indoor bays, 34 outside bays, 2 large chipping and pitching greens, 3 practice bunkers and a large putting area. There is a state of the art Club fitting Centre, 3 swing analysis studios, a custom fitting studio, a club customisation workshop and a conference room. The surrounding courses include Eden, Strathtyrum and the Balgove Course.
The Academy is located in the town that is recognised throughout the world as the "Home of Golf". There is no better location to come and learn than the town that produced the world famous golfing family of Morris. Old Tom learned his trade from Allan Robertson the local ball maker. Old Tom moved on to become Head Green keeper at Old Prestwick before returning to his native St Andrews. His son, the talented "Young Tom Morris" won the Open Championship 4 times before he was 21. He died on Christmas Day in 1874 at 24 years of age. He is often referred to as the pioneer of professional golf.
