Course Description

Situated on the southern boundary of the Town, the Dukes Course's is a true test for every golfer. The rolling fairways and undulating greens provides a round full of interest and challenge. The Duke's is highly regarded as one of the finest heathland championship courses in the British Isles and a 'must play' course for any golfer. The redesign has made it one of the finest inland championship courses in the British Isles and the creation of five separate tees at every hole has broadened the flexibility of the course for golfers of all levels and capabilities.

History:

Designed by Peter Thomson, five-times Open Champion of the 1950s and 1960s, the Duke's was revised and renovated, with five completely new holes, by Tim Liddy in 2006. The 6,983 yard Duke's course is a classic inland design and is characterized by small undulations, currently displaying all the hallmarks of the great heathland courses of the early 1920s.The Duke's was opened in July 1995 by The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, who played an inaugural round with British Lions.

Quotes:

"You will soon forget you at the home of links golf when you play the Duke's Course. It is a solid inland layout that offers a different challenge to the more recognizable courses in St Andrews. The Duke's Course is a really great course!" Jamie Kennnedy
