To achieve great results for this shot make sure the ball position is not too far back in the stance, middle is fine with hands slightly forward. Make the length of your backswing determine how far you want to carry the ball. On the downswing let the club head travel downwards and the left shoulder travel upwards, this will enable you to use the bounce of the club producing a much shallower divot. With practice you will improve your ability to up and down more consistently. Billy McColl, Scotland for Golf Tour Professional
