Course Description

If you want to experience one of the oldest golf clubs in the world, the original host to the British Open in1860 and named "the Home" of the Open Championship, then Prestwick golf course is the venue for you.
Prestwick's clubhouse also features a wonderful collection of old memorabilia from Open's past, is located conveniently just 30 minutes from Glasgow's airport, and shares the vicinity with two other world famous courses: Royal Troon and Aisla from Turnberry.
More to that, Prestwick Golf Club is a relaxed and friendly club that enjoys and has an extensive experience in hosting golfers from all around the world.
Signature Hole - 3d "Cardinal Bunker"
The course signature hole is the par 5 3d, the location of the infamous "Cardinal Bunker" a vast expanse of sand split by the fairway and faced with a wallof railroad ties; It is the toughest hole from the course.
History:
Designed by Old Tom Morris, thecourse is built on an undulating sandy stretch that links the beach to the inland. Its 6,544 yards follow the natural contours of the terrain and features some odd twists and turns and even some nasty blind shots.
The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1883; of the original 12 greens, seven remain unchanged. Indeed, Prestwick has changed little over the last 150 years. In 1860 Prestwick became the birthplace of Open Championship. The first 12 editions were held at Prestwick, and in total, the golf course hosted 24 Open editions, the last in the 1920s.
Quotes:
"Prestwick is an absolute classic in every way. Quirky, unfair, challenging and full of history, you could play here every day and notget bored."
