The St Andrews Golf Academy, under the supervision of PGA Professional George Finlayson, provides 1-on-1 golf lessons.

Golf lessons take place at the Practice Centre, St Andrews and supervised play on a chosen St Andrews Links course. Complete beginners will be able to play the Balgove course, those with a handicap can choose supervised play on any course.

What to expect on a golf lesson

Each Lesson is structured to suit the golfers ability. No two golfers are the same and each lesson will build the individuals game from strength to strength.

For those new to golf, the PGA Pro will guide you through the fundemental aspects. The first lesson for a new or emerging golfer will examine the key sequences of the golf swing; Aim, grip, stance and posture will all be practised. With expert guidance, you will be amazed at how quickly your game will take shape.

For the established golfer, potential weaknesses are explored and existing strengths improved. You will be guided on the areas to work on with a plan of action determined that can then be taken forward. Many golfers often make a date to return to examine their progress and continue to push their game beyond their furthest expectations.

Champion of the Future?

When 9 year old Patrick's parents visited St Andrews they booked him some lessons with our PGA Pro, George Finlayson. This future champion gave our Pro a run for his money! The talented youngster parred the first 5 holes on the New course.

It must run in the family as his 11 year old sister Tanya competed in a girls tournament and advanced to the semi final. 1 up after 14 holes she was unfortunately caught out by the demon Old Course bunkers.

Patrick's lessons concentrated on supervised play with some time at the Practice Centre. George's approach to junior lessons is to keep keep them competitive but fun and we all wish Patrick and his sister the best of luck with their golf.
